Our Story—Our Passion

Odyssey Morocco Travel is owned by a Berber family from southeastern Morocco. Mohamed and his family were once part of a nomadic community living in the heart of the Sahara Desert until he was 10 years old. Their livelihood relied on livestock, but the harsh desert climate, with its scarce rainfall, made living conditions difficult. In search of a better life, Mohamed’s parents decided to transition from a nomadic existence to a settled life. They joined other nomadic families and began building a village, digging wells, and practicing agriculture. Despite their hard work, after about ten years, the water supply dwindled once again, making farming unsustainable.

Seeking a new opportunity, Mohamed’s family moved to Merzouga, a small village known for attracting tourists eager to experience camel rides and immerse themselves in desert life. They brought camels with them and started offering desert treks, providing one or more-night stays. During this time, Mohamed balanced his work with his studies. The Moroccan government had established educational facilities in the village for the children of nomadic families, allowing Mohamed to continue his education.

As Mohamed completed his studies, he and his family worked tirelessly to establish a company that would organize tours not only in the desert but across Morocco. Mohamed began working as a tour guide alongside his brother. The family also supports local Berber nomad communities in the region, ensuring that their business benefits the local area.

Today, Odyssey Morocco Travel is a registered tourism company that is proud to offer unforgettable travel experiences while remaining committed to supporting their community and preserving the traditions of the Berber people.
